Alleluja! Alleluja! He is Risen!
Easter morning was full of bright eyes and expectant hearts as we began the celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection. We have been talking and praying about the coming season of feasting for much of the last week and now the time has come. Easter baskets are in front of the home altar and our best clothes are coming out for today’s event.
I wanted to take you along on our Easter Sunday and show you what I’ve been slowly pulling together for the Easter Baskets, Easter Egg Hunt and my completed Easter table as we celebrate this lovely season.
Easter Baskets

I found these little wooden baskets at the thrift store a bout a year or so ago and thought they would be the perfect Easter baskets for the kids. They are adorable and such a big hit anytime I pull them out.
For treats and presents in the basket, I wanted to give them something that would help them in their faith formation. So I found two lovely copies of a Catholic Children’s Bible, which was recommended to me by a friend. I hope these little Bibles will stay with my children long after they need them and eventually will be handed down to my grandchildren.
I also found two story books I thought they would enjoy: A collection of Aesop’s Fables for Children and Once-Upon-A-Time Saint Stories. Each child will receive a water reveal missal from Gather and Pray. My daughter will be receiving the cardigan I’ve been working on for her and my son will be getting a chalk set. Finally, both will get an adorable little stainless steel mug. I’ll admit, the mugs are more for my enjoyment than theirs. I just imagine them drinking fresh milk in the barn from their little metal cups as I milk our cow. Ah, bucolic bliss.
In any case, I’m sure the mugs will come in handy as an indestructible drinking method which will endure the accidental (or not so accidental) drops from the dinner table.
Easter Eggs
I’ve made the switch this year to fabric Easter Eggs. The kids and I took a trip to our Joann’s which is unfortunately going out of business to pick out some fabric for the eggs. I let them choose whatever fabric they wanted and, I shouldn’t have been surprised that not a single Easter themed cloth was chosen…

One of my hopes is to create a community where we gather to create together. So, I asked one of my good friends to come sew the Eggs with me and it has been such a joy to participate in a project together. Much like a sewing circle or quilting bee, making these little eggs is really just a delivery mechanism for quality conversations and deeper growth of friendship.

These little eggs, although not the perfect aesthetic, are sweet and will be full of memories. Over time they will only grow more darling as my children grow and stuff them full of new memories and stories. And when they are all grown, their little construction truck and outer space Easter egg collection can be passed on to the next generation to enjoy as well.

To fill our eggs, I whipped up (literally) a batch of marshmallows and some peanut butter chocolate eggs. These are healthy versions of classic Easter treats.
Easter Meal
Our Easter meal turned out beautifully! It was a hustle to get everything on the table and I wasn’t sure it would come together. But what we managed to create as a family with friends was a beautiful experience.
I baked a large batch of Portuguese sweet bread (find the recipe here.) And shared with the friends who have become my family while I’m separated from my husband and parents.

I hope that all of you had a wonderfully blessed Easter and you continue celebrating as the season of Easter does not end when the sun sets on Easter Day! Let me know what you made for Easter and how your family celebrates this beautiful feast in the comments below.
God Bless You!
